Handbuilding from a slab of clay
I made this plate with a slab of clay. The process of making it is the most satisfying as you discover what you hands can create.
Handbuilding techniques are always seemingly straight-forward tasks. However, the making of large, good, flat slabs with a basic slab roller has never been easy.
It is always challenging to ensure even thickness, bubble-free, perfectly flat surfaces that won’t distort under firing.
And I’m happy with the part of glazing too – that turned out unexpectedly delightful.
